Start with the Cuesta
Cuesta de los Terneros opens the day with the best scenery before reaching the first canyon stops.
Diamante Canyon and Atuel Canyon
Finca Silvestre sits inside the Diamante Canyon, right on the Diamante Circuit — San Rafael's most complete excursion starts practically at the door. Cuesta de los Terneros, El Nihuil Dam, Devil's Throat, Valle Grande, Los Reyunos and El Tigre. Approx. 08:30 departure / 19:00 return.
Canyon · Valle Grande · Los Reyunos
One of the most stunning excursions in San Rafael. Scenery, adventure and stops that are worth every kilometer.
Suggested plan
Cuesta de los Terneros opens the day with the best scenery before reaching the first canyon stops.
El Nihuil Dam and Devil's Throat add the most striking part of the route.
The dam, lunch at Valle Grande and the return close the day with the most open landscape.
Recommendations
The most photogenic stops on the route. Valle Grande reservoir has spectacular viewpoints and Devil's Throat impresses with its scale.
Two spots on the Diamante Circuit worth including if you have time. Water, mountains and scenery on another scale.
There are grills and simple restaurants by the lake. Not gourmet but the setting makes it worth it. Better to book in high season.
Sunscreen, a layer (wind shifts fast in the canyon), comfortable shoes and water. The sun is strong over the water mirrors.
